Academic advising is mandatory for all students admitted into Professional Programs.  Students must obtain clearance from their advisors to register for courses. Courses required for a Diploma are pre-determined with little scope for variation. Upon admission into a Professional Program or Advanced Professional Program each student is assigned an academic advisor to set down clear objectives for each student based on a studentís preference and ability.  A list of courses,  defined as required courses, is drawn up by the advisor for each student.  It is the studentís responsibility to complete these required courses and fulfill diploma requirements. Coursed are offered by the Institute to enable students to progress in their programs at a brisk pace.  However, since students are free to advance in a program at their own comfort, the institute assumes no responsibility for fulfillment of diploma requirements within a specific period of time. Due dates for payment and registration are announced as and when courses are offered, usually one week before first day of classes.  Only students who wish to attend a particular offering need to pay by the due date to register for a course. Once registered for a course, students can cancel their registration altogether, or be re-advised into another course, before the first day of classes.  No tuition adjustment or refund is authorized after the first day of classes. Courses offered, may be cancelled or rescheduled, if the number of registered students is very low.  In such cases, the tuition paid will be a adjusted against subsequent courses. Beyond the required courses, students are welcome to register for other courses offered at BIFT.  These extra courses, along with the grades earned will be reported on the transcript and will be included in the overall GPA calculation.  But grades earned only in the required courses will be applied towards fulfillment of diploma requirements. Grades will be assigned for all courses into which a student registers.
